Experience the Heartbeat of Kgubetswana: The Township Flea Market Bringing Kasi Lifestyle to Life
Just a short walk from the postcard‑perfect streets of Clarens lies a world with its own rhythm — vibrant, creative, proudly local. Welcome to the Kgubetswana Flea Market, a community‑driven marketplace where township culture meets tourism, entrepreneurship, and the unmistakable warmth of Kasi hospitality.
Launched on 8 August 2025, this fast‑growing initiative is more than a market. It’s a celebration of township tourism, a platform for local entrepreneurs, and a living showcase of the creativity that defines Kgubetswana. Guided by the slogan “Come and Experience Kasi Lifestyle”, the market invites visitors to step beyond Clarens’ art galleries and mountain views and discover the soul of the community that makes this town truly special.
A Marketplace with Purpose
The Kgubetswana Flea Market was born from the Clarens SMMEs Forum NPC, who recognised a growing need for accessible, structured trading spaces for SMMEs, informal traders, youth entrepreneurs, women‑owned businesses, and creative artisans. Today, the market is professionally managed through Kgubetswana Flea Market (Pty) Ltd, ensuring long‑term sustainability, strong governance, and a clear vision for growth.
But the heart of the market remains the people.
Walk through the stalls and you’ll meet home‑based bakers selling fresh vetkoek, young designers showcasing handmade jewellery, farmers offering organic produce, and artists whose work reflects the colours and textures of township life. Every vendor has a story, and every purchase supports local economic development.
